Braves Fans Shouldn't Panic About Ronald Acuña Jr's Slow Start in Spring
By Karl Rasmussen
Ronald Acuña Jr. has lofty expectations for himself in the 2020 campaign, but the 22-year-old starlet hasn't gotten off to the best of starts during Spring Training. Currently slashing an abysmal .115/.179/.115 with just three hits and 12 strikeouts to his name across 26 at-bats, Braves fans may be a bit worried about the superstar outfielder heading into the new season.
Well, Acuña attempted to quell the fears of any anxious fans in Atlanta by reassuring folks that he feels fine, even referencing his struggles last spring prior to his monstrous year in 2019.
While Acuña's struggles have been apparent early on, there's nothing to suggest he won't return to his MVP-caliber form. Last spring, Acuña went 4-for-20 at the plate during Grapefruit League play, and we all saw the remarkable season he turned in.
"I've always been a slow starter and I don't really know why," Acuña said via MLB.com's Mark Bowman. "It's not something I put much mind to, because I know what I'm capable of and I know what can happen during the regular season."
The Braves start the regular season in Arizona on March 26, so Acuña has more than two weeks to iron out the kinks and get back to his typical self before 2020 officially gets underway.
