Braves Will Reportedly Send Dallas Keuchel to Triple-A This Weekend
By Seth Carlson
The last major MLB free agent domino has fallen, Dallas Keuchel has joined up with the Atlanta Braves at long last. But given that he hasn't thrown in an actual game this year, he'll get himself rolling with the Triple-A Gwinnett Stripers before heading back up to the Show. One thing is for sure: the good ol' Stripers will see a serious increase in ticket sales instantly now that a legitimate MLB star will be toeing their mound.
The 2015 AL Cy Young winner agreed to a one-year, pro-rated $13 million deal with the Braves Thursday night, finally ending a truly drawn-out free agency period. Keuchel last pitched in MLB for the Houston Astros in the 2018 ALCS against the Red Sox, who would go on to win the World Series. Keuchel, once summoned to the big league Braves, will add a significant arm to an uneven rotation with no go-to ace.
Keuchel won't have to shave that famous beard when he arrives in Gwinnett, either. Many fans were speculating he would have to shave it off after rumors connected him to the Yankees (and their no-beard policy), but this is no more. It will only be a matter of time before Dallas and his beard return to the bigs exactly where they belong.
