Cubs Add Former Angels Catcher Jonathan Lucroy for Willson Contreras Insurance

Victor Caratini and Taylor Davis isn't exactly the most inspiring group of catchers, so Theo Epstein decided to add the most experienced option still on the market to help the Cubs get over Willson Contreras' injury.
With their All-Star catcher out for around a month, the Cubs signed former Angels catcher Jonathan Lucory, who was recently DFA'd by LA.

Lucroy was hitting .242 with seven home runs, which pale in comparison to the All-Star numbers he put up in his glory days as a Milwaukee Brewer. However, Davis is hitting just .167, while Caratini had cooled off considerably after a torrid start to the season.
Lucroy's defense, ability to call a game, and knack for picking up timely hits should make him more than just a month-long band-aid at that position.

Given the dearth of catching options on the market and Chicago's gaping hole at catcher, it wasn't hard to read the tea leaves as they relate to the Lucroy-to-Chicago move.
