BREAKING: Yankees Reinstate Luke Voit from IL and Place Gio Urshela on the Shelf with Groin Strain
By Parker White

When one guy comes back, another goes down.
That's been the case for the New York Yankees this season, and prior to Friday night's game, they reinstated slugging first baseman Luke Voit from the injured list, once thought lost for the year.
However, third baseman Gio Urshela will take his spot, as he's landed on the shelf with a left groin strain.
Prior to tonight’s game, the Yankees returned from rehab & reinstated 1B Luke Voit from the 10-day IL and placed INF Gio Urshela on the 10-day IL with a left groin strain (retro to 8/29).

About a month ago to the day, Voit went back on the injured list with a sports hernia that most thought required surgery. The potential timetable for his return was six weeks, but it took him four weeks to recover, and he's back on the big league squad.
#Yankees activated Voit, put Urshela on IL with groin injury. Urshela was going to have to play near daily to qualify for batting title (he’s hitting .331) -- needed 88 PAs in final 27 games, so that goes away. Now we will see if/how he makes it back for the playoffs.

Urshela left Wednesday's game with groin tightness, and to err on the side of caution, he'll be out of action for at least a week. The IL stint is retroactive to August 29.
The Yankee third baseman has put together a beyond-impressive season, slashing .331/.370/.555 with 50 extra-base hits (18 home runs) and 67 RBI over 114 games. His bat and his Gold Glove-caliber defense at the hot corner will be missed.
