Brewers and Astros Reportedly Interested in Noah Syndergaard Trade
By Brendan Azoff
When Noah Syndergaard was called up by the Mets in 2015, he immediately became one of the most feared hurlers in all of baseball.
At 6-6 and 240 pounds, Syndergaard possesses a Randy Johnson-esque persona on the mound. Despite being in the midst of an up and down 2019, two teams have expressed interest in the power-throwing right hander with the trade deadline approaching.
The Mets will be sellers when the July 31 trade deadline comes around, but that does not necessarily mean they should move Syndergaard, who is under contract until the end of the 2021 season. They should, however, entertain these offers and try to maximize them, despite Syndergaard having a career worst 4.68 ERA this season.
The thought of the Astros adding 'Thor' to their rotation is dangerous, as they would have the luxury of rolling out Syndergaard with an already impressive group that includes Justin Verlander and Gerrit Cole.
The Brewers need a pitcher like Syndergaard, as their rotation has been in flux all year. Milwaukee ranks 18th in the MLB with a team ERA of 4.61, with the majority of that damage coming against their starting rotation.
If they are able to get the rotation help they need, the Brewers immediately become the favorites in the NL Central, overtaking the Cubs.
