VIDEO: Brewers Welcome Baseball Back With Excellent 'Back to the Future' Parody
By Scott Rogust
The Milwaukee Brewers have been known in recent years for their propensity to finish at the top of the NL Central standings. But the past couple of seasons, the team showcased their acting chops in the form of regular season hype videos. They previously parodied Wayne's World and The Sandlot, with their most recent project being a Mean Girls spoof last year. In 2020, with the team participating in the second act of spring training, the Brewers released their Back to the Future hype video for the season.
Relief pitcher Brent Suter stars as a knockoff of Doctor Emmet "Doc" Brown, while up and coming star Keston Hiura parodies Marty McFly. The filming took place at their spring training facility at Phoenix, Arizona before the coronavirus pandemic hit the United States.
There are plenty of great cameos in this clip. Brewers manager Craig Counsell, bench coach Pat Murphy, Christian Yelich, Ryan Braun, and Lorenzo Cain all make an appearance in the hilarious clip. But perhaps the biggest highlight of the video was Suter losing his mind after discovering that Milwaukee's bullpen cart can help increase his fastball speed to...88 miles per hour. Tremendous stuff.
The Brewers can guarantee two things every year: they can contend for the playoffs and provide their fanbase with some quality social media entertainment.
