We have a trade!
On Friday, the Milwaukee Brewers traded right-handed pitcher Jake Petricka to the Texas Rangers for a player to be named later or cash considerations. Petricka has already been assigned to Triple-A Nashville.
Milwaukee signed the 31-year-old back in January. He only appeared in six games out the Brewers bullpen this season, and in eight innings of work he allowed three runs on six hits and six walks.
In 16 minor league appearances this season, Petricka owns a 1.89 ERA and has 22 strikeouts over 19 innings.
The veteran reliever began his career with the Chicago White Sox before signing with the Toronto Blue Jays in free agency in 2018. In 228 career appearances, Petricka owns a 3.96 ERA with 175 strikeouts over 231.2 innings to go along with 16 saves.
Milwaukee wasn't relying on him out of the 'pen, but he could be an important piece for the Rangers down the stretch if they continue to contend for a Wild Card spot.
