Brewers' Weak Trade for Jordan Lyles Should Have Cubs Fans Laughing
By Daniel Marcillo
The Milwaukee Brewers were in desperate need for some starting pitching help to put themselves past the Chicago Cubs.
To be honest, the Cubs are probably licking their chops for the next time they get to face the Brewers now.
Instead of making a move for a top of the rotation talent, the Brewers acquired Pittsburgh Pirates starting pitcher Jordan Lyles. Yes, Jordan Lyles.
Lyles has been anything but good since his first two months of the season, which was the most consistency he had ever shown in his career. In seven starts since June he has an ERA of 10.00. You did not read that wrong.
He also has an ERA of 12.66 in three starts against the Cubs this season. The Cubs have to be happy with the opportunity to face Lyles in meaningful games over the final stretch of the season.
The Brewers must see something the rest of us do not in Lyles. If he can't show more consistency the rest of the season, it could be a long August and September in Milwaukee.
If only they had a chance to sign a quality starting pitcher like Wade Miley this past offseason...
