The Kansas City Chiefs and their fanbase were obviously thrilled that Andy Reid brought the franchise a championship for the first time in 50 years, but the Philadelphia Eagles and their network of former players who played under Reid were right behind them, purely in terms of the unbridled joy they showed. Enter Brian Dawkins. The former Eagles defensive back and Hall of Famer, who played for Reid for a majority of his career, put a celebratory message on Twitter that claimed Reid "earned" his first title thanks to nearly 20 years of service as a head coach in the NFL.
Weapon X knows as well as anyone what a magician Reid is on the sideline.
Reid's former colleagues and players in Philadelphia were over the moon when Reid got his first championship. Eagles owner Jeffery Lurie was rooting for Reid to get his ring, while the Eagles themselves put out a classy tweet in celebration of Reid reaching the top of the mountain.
Reid is an unusually beloved figure between players who played under him, players who wish they could have been coached by him, administrative officials around the league, and the devoted fans who recognize his coaching genius. Big Red just picked up win No. 222 in his career, and this one had to be the sweetest of all of them.
