Brian Snitker Reveals Braves SP Cole Hamels is Expected to Miss All of April Due to Shoulder Injury
By Karl Rasmussen

The Atlanta Braves signed veteran starter Cole Hamels to a one-year deal in the offseason, but it may be awhile before fans get to see their new acquisition on the mound.
Hamels suffered a shoulder injury while training in the offseason, and after recently being re-evaluated, manager Brian Snitker revealed there's still no timetable as to when the lefty will be able to resume throwing.
Snitker said Hamels has been re-evaluated but there still isn't any indication when he'll be cleared to begin throwing again. Seems safe to expect the lefty to miss all of April.

Hamels was already expected to miss Opening Day, but the latest update suggests the 36-year-old could end up sidelined through April.
The Braves added Hamels on a one-year, $18 million deal this winter after the veteran spent the previous two seasons in Chicago with the Cubs. In 2019, Hamels logged a 3.81 ERA across 27 starts, striking out 143 batters in 141.1 innings of work.
Cole Hamels hasn't been cleared to resume throwing, #Braves' Snitker said. Doctor checked him out, said he's progressing well, but Snitker said no timetable he's aware of for his return or resumption of throwing.

Braves fans are surely eager to get a glimpse of the four-time All-Star on the rubber, but it looks like he'll be shelved for at least the first month of the season.
