Broncos Reportedly 'Pleased' With Vic Fangio and Expect Him Back in 2020
By Andy Loughmiller
With the infamous Black Monday quickly approaching, many NFL teams will need to make decisions on whether or not to bring back head coaches. While several coaches seem likely to be on their way out, not every struggling team is lookign to make changes.
According to James Palmer, Vic Fangio and John Elway are reportedly "on the same page," and the Broncos have no plans of replacing the first-year head coach.
Despite being bitten by the injury bug and trading away one of their best offensive weapons in Emmanuel Sanders this year, the Broncos have managed to win three of their last four games.
It feels like a smart decision to not get rid of Fangio after just one season. He hasn't had a ton to work with in terms of personnel and deserves another season at the helm. Especially when you consider that five of his nine loses in 2019 have been by one score.
The first-year head coach has the team trending in the right direction.
Denver will have another high draft pick after its 6-9 start, and shouldn't have to spend it on a quarterback after the emergence of Drew Lock as a competent starting option.
Fangio will be given the opportunity to further develop the team in Year 2, and he'll hope to lead the Broncos to a winning record in 2020.
