Broncos' Von Miller Talks About Scary Breathing Issues When Sick With COVID-19
By Scott Rogust
If the ongoing coronavirus pandemic has taught us anything, it's that COVID-19 isn't picky when it comes to who contracts it. That was evident last month, after reports revealed that Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller tested positive for the virus. Even though Miller's since been cleared, he's still dealing with the aftermath of COVID-19.
Just how hellish was the coronavirus for Miller? While speaking with Kent Babb of the Washington Post, Miller said that his breathing issues were "frightening."
“That was the most frightening part,” Miller said, via the Washington Post. “Just going to sleep knowing that my oxygen level could drop, and I could wake up and have to go to the hospital.”
This was a scary fight for Miller. He lived his life with asthma, and discovered he contracted COVID-19 after developing a cough back in April. As everyone knows, the coronavirus has a negative impact on a person's lungs, which is why many have to be put on a ventilator to help them breath.
On top of the breathing issues, Miller lost his sense of taste and smell, which prevented him from eating normally. At points, the Broncos stud defender actually admitted that he had thoughts that he'd actually die from the virus.
Miller was cleared to return to working out after his 17-day battle with the virus, but admits that his lungs aren't the same as it used to be, and will take time to return back to normal.
This should serve as a warning for those who aren't taking the coronavirus seriously. It's not like the flu. Even a strong athlete like Von Miller had to fight for his life to beat it. So please, follow the advice of medical experts not just for your well-being, but to secure the health of others.
