3 Drastic Moves Browns Must Make to Change Toxic Culture
By Mark Powell
The Browns are a mess. Wash, rinse, repeat. Yet, this Cleveland dumpster fire is different than in years past, as John Dorsey has put together a competent roster that ought to be in playoff contention. Instead, the personalities have taken over, splitting a once-cohesive locker room and ending this season in disarray. If Cleveland is to ever live up to their potential, drastic moves are necessary.
3. Trade Odell Beckham, Jr.
This one's easy. OBJ is as talented as they come but he doesn't want to be in Cleveland. Beckham, Jr. is taking over the headlines for all the wrong reasons, and overshadowing the always-consistent Jarvis Landry. Cleveland cannot replace Beckham Jr.'s potential, but his production isn't all that high. Trading him for a mid-round draft pick would be taking a tough L, but still might be necessary.
2. Don't Bring Back Kareem Hunt
Dorsey signed the controversial Hunt last offseason, and despite his checkered past he's been nothing but a solid teammate in Cleveland. Yet, Hunt comes with unnecessary baggage, and the Browns already have a stud RB in Nick Chubb. Keeping Hunt on the roster is only asking for turmoil long-term. It worked for one year, and now it's time to cut ties.
1. Fire Freddie Kitchens
One-and-done for Kitchens might not be fair, but he's already lost control of this team and no amount of personnel moves can make up for that. Hiring a rookie coach to manage this group of personalities was a mistake by Dorsey, and one he'd likely privately acknowledge. That's not necessarily a shot at Kitchens, but he needs to go to revamp this team.
