Browns Intended to Give Away Signed Myles Garrett Mini Helmet This Week and That's Awkward
By Sean Facey
The Cleveland Browns have done a good job with fan outreach this year, especially considering the amount of star power they have on their roster. Just last week, they announced a giveaway of a signed Myles Garrett mini-helmet!
Under normal circumstances, that would be really neat. But as history has taught us, nothing ever goes right for the Browns, even when their intentions are pure. It's only fitting that the subject of their giveaway was suspended indefinitely for bludgeoning opposing quarterback Mason Rudolph with his own helmet on national television, and you can now get...a similar helmet, but miniature, for a simple RT.
Yeah...awkward.
The winner, who is still set to be announced at 3 p.m. ET on Saturday, will have quite the story attached to their prize. Not many people can lay claim to having a signed mini-helmet from a player who tried to crack another human's skull open on a football field!
It just feels like the football gods have conspired against the Browns in a truly special way this season. 2019 was supposed to be the year of their ascent back to relevance.
Instead, they've got a 4-6 record, a sub-par head coach, and a boatload of PR nightmares. This incident with Garrett and the helmet giveaway just feels like the cherry on top for the year.
What the Browns need more than ever right now is mercy. They need mercy and they need this nightmare of a season to just come to an end.
