Browns Should Swoop in and Sign Jadeveon Clowney With Seahawks Now Out of Mix
By Jerry Trotta

The Seattle Seahawks' self-proclaimed efforts to re-sign pass defensive end Jadeveon Clowney have come to a screeching halt. On Wednesday, DT Jarran Reed announced that he will switch back to No. 90 for the 2020 season. Of course, Clowney paid his former teammate to be able to wear that number for Seattle last season.
With a Clowney-Seahawks reunion seemingly off the table, the Cleveland Browns, who are reported to still be in the mix, should swoop in and sign the 27-year-old stud.
#Seahawks DT Jarran Reed says he’s going back to No. 90 — which is the same number Jadeveon Clowney wore in Seattle. Clowney had to pay Reed to get that number last season. With Clowney still unsigned, Reed says he’s taking it back. ? pic.twitter.com/4FY1zy2yJS

Pairing Clowney alongside Myles Garrett, Larry Ogunjobi, Sheldon Richardson and Olivier Vernon would give Cleveland one of the most formidable defensive lines in the NFL. It would also help protect the team's weaker linebacking corps and secondary.
With around $39 million in free cap space, they could afford Clowney without batting an eye. Having addressed the offensive line in a big way by selecting Jedrick Wills at No. 10 overall, landing the three-time Pro Bowler would be the ideal final addition to what has been a superb offseason for Cleveland.
Wouldn’t shut the door on a Clowney deal, however no medicals is a big obstacle #Browns

As far as we're concerned, this is the Browns' race to lose now. If they really want to be considered serious playoff contenders, first-year GM Andrew Berry should stop at nothing to sign Clowney. The former No. 1 overall pick will come at a steep price, but nabbing him will force the NFL to take Cleveland seriously.
