Kareem Hunt and Taysom Hill Were Clearly Overvalued After Zero Teams Submitted Offers for Them

The deadline for restricted NFL free agents to sign offer sheets with another team passed on Friday. As is the case each year, the cutoff has proven that certain players were overvalued at the time when they had franchise tenders placed on them.
This time around, those players are Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt and New Orleans Saints quarterback Taysom Hill. Both players will return to their teams after zero squads submitted offers for them.
Back in March, the Browns placed a second-round tender on Hunt. Though the move didn't guarantee that the polarizing RB would return to the organization, Cleveland clearly had a hunch that he'd be back considering no team in their right mind would give up that kind of compensation for a player with that much baggage.
Hunt was famously suspended for the first eight games of the 2019 season. To his credit, he impressed upon returning, posting 179 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 4.2 yards per carry. The former Pro Bowler added 37 receptions for 285 yards and a score. He'll continue to split reps with No. 1 option Nick Chubb.
As for Hill, the Saints assured that they'd retain the versatile QB by placing a first-round (!) tender on him in mid-March. The 29-year-old will return to New Orleans and play out the final year of his contract while pocketing $4.64 million.
Hill will look to add to his offensive snap count (241) from last season and continue his campaign to prove to the Saints that he's a franchise gunslinger. A man can dream!
Though both Hunt and Hill are better off returning to their respective organizations, it must sting a little to know that there wasn't a team out there that considered submitting an offer for them.
