Kareem Hunt Won't Face Marijuana Possession Charges
By Scott Rogust
Cleveland Browns running back Kareem Hunt entered the 2019 regular season with plenty of eyes on him due to the infamous TMZ video which brought about his release from the Kansas City Chiefs. Eyebrows continued to raise after he was pulled over for speeding on Jan. 21 in Rocky River, Ohio, where he was found to be in possession of marijuana, avoiding arrest in the process.
Hunt dodged a bullet, as the town's police department announced on Monday that they are opting against pressing charges of marijuana possession in the case.
Hunt's punishment was viewed as a slap on the wrist, but the Rocky River police department has a policy against charging individuals for having a small amount of marijuana on them. Even though he dodged this charge, Hunt was given a $211.12 speeding ticket.
After being released by the Chiefs last year, Hunt was brought into Cleveland by the general manager who selected him in 2017: John Dorsey. In eight games, he rushed for 179 yards and two touchdowns on 43 carries, while hauling in 37 catches for 285 yards and a score.
Now, the Browns are under a new regime with Andrew Berry at the helm. Although the organization stressed that Hunt needs to be on his best behavior, Berry said that the Browns will place a tender on the running back, who's currently a restricted free agent.
