Browns Offensive Coordinator Todd Monken Reportedly Joining Kirby Smart's Staff at Georgia
It's back to the college ranks for now-former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Todd Monken. On Friday morning, it was reported Monken will be one and done in Cleveland and is set to join Kirby Smart's staff at Georgia.
Monken arrived to Cleveland last season after spending one year with the Bucs. Smart was able to step in, though, and land him as his new offensive coordinator.
Monken's status with the Browns was up in the air leading up to Friday's news, as Freddie Kitchens was fired and former Vikings OC Kevin Stefanski was brought in to be the organization's new head coach.
There were whispers Monken could potentially return to the Browns, but he's instead decided to head to UGA to try and help the Bulldogs get back to the College Football Playoff. The man surely doesn't lack experience either, with his coaching career dating back to 1989.
With Jake Fromm headed to the NFL, grad transfer Jamie Newman is all set to take over as QB1 in Athens. Now, he'll have a former NFL assistant calling plays for him. After a down year in 2019, the excitement sure is returning fast for the Bulldogs.
