Browns QB Baker Mayfield Reacts to Cleveland Selecting Alabama OT Jedrick Wills on Twitter
By Andrew Gullotta
Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield is PUMPED after Cleveland selected Alabama offensive tackle Jedrick Wills to help protect him.
In fact, all Browns fans should rejoice, as the team found a likely solution to their woes at the line of scrimmage.
Cleveland ranked in the bottom 10 in PFF's O-Line rankings, falling 21 spots from 2018 to 2019. With all the weapons any quarterback can ask for, Mayfield and the offense struggled due to the lack of protection of their signal caller, but Wills should immediately step in and alleviate that.
After picking up former Titans tackle Jack Conklin in free agency, this line is now stacked. In 2020, fans should expect more of the electric offense that was promised in 2019 after the acquisitions of Pro Bowlers Odell Beckham Jr. and Kareem Hunt.
Mayfield has a legitimate reason to be excited. He won't have to worry about the protection breakdowns of 2019, and can likely comfortably return to being a playmaker.
