Browns Release WR Jaelen Strong After Struggles in Preseason
By Scott Rogust
Entering the final week of the preseason, cuts on NFL teams are beginning to take place. The latest release comes out of Cleveland.
According to reports, the Browns have released wide receiver Jaelen Strong on Monday.
Strong originally sat out the entire 2018 season, after being released by the Houston Texans and Jacksonville Jaguars in the span of a calendar year. He ultimately signed with the Browns this past February.
The former 2015 third round pick out of Arizona State was heavily projected to make the 53-man roster, especially with Antonio Callaway out for the first four games of the season due to a suspension. He had a strong start to the preseason, but struggled mightily last week to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he caught two of seven targets for a measly 11 yards.
Despite the poor performance, Strong had the second-most receptions on the team this preseason with seven, accumulating 53 yards, and scoring one touchdown.
While Strong's tenure in Cleveland was a short one, he does have the opportunity to land on a squad this year, especially as injuries pile up throughout the season.
