Browns Will Reportedly Release LB Adarius Taylor
By Sam Dunn
The Cleveland Browns have some serious work to do in 2020 after falling dramatically short of the high expectations they faced one season ago. That means new head coach Kevin Stefanski has some house-cleaning to do, and the latest casualty comes Monday in the form of a veteran linebacker who only managed to spend a single year in The Land.
Per insider Mary Kay Cabot, Adarius Taylor is being shown the door.
Taylor appeared in 15 games this season, featuring more frequently as a special teams contributor than a rotation linebacker. His contract with the Browns was meant to be for two years, but it's clear that he didn't fit in with the program in Cleveland, as he appeared in just 6% of defensive snaps in 2019 just one year after seeing significant action in the middle of the defense for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Having an extra chunk of change to spend elsewhere makes this move self-explanatory. For the Browns, it's a shrewd bit of business. For Taylor, it's on to an uncertain future as he enters his age-30 season in the NFL.
