Browns Reportedly Considering Multiple Moves This Offseason Including Head Coaching Change
By Sean Facey
2019 was a colossal disappointment for the Cleveland Browns. After a strong campaign last year that ended with hope and the acquisition of elite offensive talents like Odell Beckham Jr. and Kareem Hunt, the team fell flat on its face under Freddie Kitchens, stumbling to a worse finish than in 2018.
Such failure, however, has not gone unnoticed. The Browns are reportedly looking to make plenty of changes heading into 2020, including potentially finding a new head coach to replace Kitchens.
Moving on from the current state of affairs would most definitely be the right thing to do, especially if the changes start with the dismissal of Kitchens. He has done nothing but hold this Browns team back, and it's glaringly obvious.
2018 first-round draft pick Baker Mayfield has regressed wildly under him, and the team seems to lack any semblance of discipline on the field. Penalties and miscommunications have been rampant in Cleveland this year with little adjustment to be found on the part of the coaching staff. We've even seen multiple heated sideline exchanges between Kitchens and disgruntled players.
They have one of the most talented rosters in the NFL, yet they're going to finish the year with a losing record. It also reflects poorly on John Dorsey, who helped assemble this roster.
At the very least, though, it's encouraging to see that the organization isn't afraid of shaking things up despite the head coach's short tenure.
The Browns looked like they finally got the culture they wanted last year, but they had it all dashed away this year. Hopefully for their sake, they can find it again this offseason.
