Browns Reportedly Expected to Land Former Redskins Assistant Bill Callahan as OL Coach
By Mark Powell
Despite having yet to decide on an offensive coordinator (or whether they'll make that hire at all), Kevin Stefanski and the Browns have landed a big fish in the coaching ranks.
Cleveland is reportedly hiring former Redskins assistant Bill Callahan as offensive line coach.
Callahan was named interim head coach in Washington for the last 11 weeks of the season after Jay Gruden was fired. He coach the Skins to a 3-8 record, but was not retained for the head coaching role as most expected. At OL coach, he'll return to his expertise while also providing a first-time HC in Stefanski a veteran assistant to lean on. It's a win-win for both sides.
This is the second straight day featuring major Browns coaching staff news, as Cleveland is likely to hire 49ers assistant Joe Woods as DC once the Super Bowl is over and done with.
Callahan's veteran presence should be a huge asset for a Browns team which dealt with unnecessary turmoil at times this past season.
