Browns Safety Damarious Randall Reportedly Benched for Steelers Game
Just as the Cleveland Browns' season was looking like it was turning around, they have another setback, and ahead of what could prove to be a pivotal game.
Mary Kay Cabot reported that starting safety Damarious Randall will be benched for Sunday's game against the Steelers. It's unclear what occurred, as Cabot described it as "something that happened during the week."
Randall wasn't present at the open practice on Friday, and didn't speak with the media. The safety also didn't travel with the team to Pittsburgh.
It's certainly worrisome that Randall's absence doesn't stem from an injury. Instead, it was Freddie Kitchens' decision to leave him behind.
Cleveland has won their last three games to get them back in the playoff hunt. You'd think this team is so locked in at the moment that nobody would act in a way to jeopardize their chances of winning, but nonetheless Randall won't be traveling with the team this weekend.
On the season, Randall has started seven games for the Browns, logging 35 tackles, two sacks and four pass breakups.
