Browns to Reportedly Interview Former Broncos OC Rich Scangarello for Some Reason

The Cleveland Browns were linked to some interesting names during their protracted process of hiring a new head coach.

Well, it appears that the organization will deploy that same method to their current offensive coordinating vacancy.

Per Mary kay Cabot of Cleveland.com, new HC Kevin Stefanski is set to interview former Denver Broncos OC Rich Scangarello this upcoming week.

This news comes in the wake of now-former Cleveland OC Todd Monken jumping ship to join forces with Kirby Smart at Georgia.

We're not entirely sure why Stefanski would look to Scangarello as a liberator for Baker Mayfield and the Browns' stagnant offense. The 47-year-old was fired last week by Denver and subsequently replaced by recently-canned Giants HC Patt Shurmur.

That alone is a bad optic after watching Shurmur crumble as significantly as he did in the Big Apple during his two years at the helm.

Scangarello worked anything but wonders with the Broncos offense in his lone season calling the shots. Denver finished 29th in the league in red zone efficiency and 28th in both yards and points per game.

Those numbers do not deserve another OC job, let alone less than a week after Scangarello was dismissed by his former employer.

The Browns truly never cease to amaze.
