Browns Trade 2018 33rd Overall Pick Austin Corbett to Rams
By Mark Powell
With the Rams struggling to protect new franchise player Jared Goff, they've acquired a player they were high on in the 2018 NFL Draft class.
Austin Corbett was selected 33rd overall in that draft, but has yet to make much of an impact in Cleveland. Sometimes all it takes is a change of scenery, and the Browns are gifting Corbett that opportunity by dealing him to Los Angeles.
The Rams quite recently lost left guard Joe Noteboom, with the interior of their offensive line looking relatively barren. Still, Corbett's been a letdown since his first training camp in Cleveland, failing to even last a month in the starting left tackle role.
Still, coming out of Nevada, Corbett was graded as a top-20 prospect by some prognosticators, and at just 24 years old could develop into a starting-caliber offensive lineman in the right system.
The Browns, however, are admitting defeat on this pick very early in Corbett's tenure in Cleveland, which should worry fans of both teams. For Browns fans, this calls John Dorsey's drafting ability into question. For the Rams, perhaps Corbett is past saving, considering the Browns were so eager to part ways with him.
