Bruins-Blues Stanley Cup Final Game 7 Television Ratings Set NHL Records
By Adam Godfrey

The 2019 Stanley Cup Final was a series to remember-- not only for the teams involved, but for hockey fans everywhere.
The series ended with the St. Louis Blues winning their first Stanley Cup championship in franchise history in Game 7 on the road against the Boston Bruins. The showdown not only marked the end of the hockey season, but also a new record for highest overnight television rating for an NHL game.
Last night’s Blues-Bruins Stanley Cup Final Game 7 delivered a 6.2 overnight rating on NBC, the highest overnight rating for an NHL game on record (since overnights began in 1994). pic.twitter.com/fTrq7qsjWQ

Game 7's 6.2 overnight rating is the highest since such statistics began to be taken 25 years ago. That number simply means that 6.2% of all US television-equipped homes tuned into the game.

The Stanley Cup Final broke the record for good reason, being that it was the first time the Blues were in the series since 1970, when they lost to these same Bruins in four straight games. Wednesday night's game was a fitting way to cap off another exciting season of NHL hockey, and the masses certainly came out to watch.
