Bruins Must Dominate Game 3 After Getting Outclassed by Blues at Home
By Brendan Azoff
After a high-scoring first period gave way to tightly-defended second and third periods, the St. Louis Blues took it to the Boston Bruins in overtime, dominating the run of play and eventually scoring the game-winner less then four minutes into the sudden death period.
If the Bruins want to hoist the Stanley Cup this year, they must jump on the Blues in Game 3, full stop. With the series shifting to the Gateway to the West, the B's need to utilize their speed and offensive depth to outscore a solid St. Louis squad and take back control of the series. Boston got laughed off of the ice by the end of the second game by a much hungrier team, and now it is their turn to dominate as the visiting team in Game 3.
The Bruins are extremely capable of going on the road and getting the job done, and their big line is going to have to step up in order for them to take the third game. Boston's first line has yet to have a major impact on the series, as they surrendered two goals in the first game and did not produce any in Game 2. That needs to change in a big, big way.
Patrice Bergeron has been eerily quiet so far, and if the Bruins want to go up 2-1, he will have to perform to expectations. Early and often will be the recipe for success in Game 3 on the road, as the only way to win in a tough environment is to silence the oppositions crowd and pummel the Blues form start to finish. There's just no other option for the Eastern Conference champs.
