Everyone knows how great of a year it's been for Boston sports. From the Patriots' sixth Super Bowl title to the Red Sox bringing home another World Series, Boston has had more than enough to celebrate, for what feels like the 80th time since 2001.

Guess that means they have a slightly higher standard for what constitutes a success, then, huh?

Now, with the Stanley Cup on the line and a critical Game 7 Wednesday night, Bruins fans are realizing what it means if they don't emerge victorious. Bruins reporter Matt Kalman of WEEI Sports Radio Network gave an interesting take on the narrative surrounding Game 7, and it's so totally Boston.

"There's no other way to put this: the Bruins deserve this win more than the Blues," Kalman said, enraging every other fan who exists outside of Boston, sprawling across this beautiful nation. A lot of what he references is the massive number of injuries the Bruins have suffered through the postseason. If the Bruins don't persevere through those injuries and win Game 7, then apparently it's all been "a waste," failing to take into account how difficult it is to get here, and how much has already been accomplished.

While he's obviously not wrong about the Bruins postseason injuries, he does seem to be forgetting something about the St. Louis Blues. The Blues were dead last in the league in January. Instead of giving up at that point, they clawed their way back to earn a postseason spot, and now they're just one win away from winning the Stanley Cup, which would be St. Louis' FIRST. EVER.

It's been eight years since the city of St. Louis experienced a championship, and it's been less than five months for Boston. The Bruins ability to battle through injuries is certainly commendable. But the fact that Boston analysts would call a Game 7 loss a waste speaks volumes -- in that title-less span, St. Louis has been robbed of a football team, too, by the way.

Time will tell who deserves the Game 7 victory more. The Blues have a much harder task at hand, having to win a cup-clinching game on the road in Boston. Both teams have battled to be where they are today, and Wednesday's Game 7 is set to be one of the most hard-fought tilts of the postseason.

Let's just let the chips fall where they may. No matter the outcome, it won't be a waste for either side.
