Buck Showalter in Talks With YES Network About Analyst Role
By Parker White
Buck Showalter could be returning to the New York Yankees soon, but not in the role you may think.
The former Yankee manager (1992-1995) has been in talks with the YES Network about an analyst role. It would be fill-in role for the remainder of this season with a potential for a more permanent role down the road.
Showalter was recently fired by the Baltimore Orioles following the 2018 season after a 47-115 record. He spent nine seasons with the O's and led them to three postseason appearances. Showalter finished his tenure in Baltimore with a 669-684 record, which included two 90-plus win seasons.
“Buck comes to the table with a wide range of skills,” YES president John J. Fillipelli said. “He is definitely an intriguing prospect. That’s what we are initially looking to build, a stable of worthy prospects.”
Showalter would have experience as an in-studio analyst, as he spent time at ESPN before getting back in the dugout with Baltimore.
