Budding Reds Star Nick Senzel Hires Scott Boras as New Agent
24-year-old Nick Senzel is coming off a decent rookie campaign which saw him hit 12 home runs and knock in 42 RBI for a Cincinnati team that was 12 games under .500. The second overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft didn't quite meet expectations, but certainly set a building block for the next steps of his career.
In preparation for the coming season (and future arbitration and free agent seasons to come), Senzel fired his agent, Wasserman Media Group, and picked up the most notorious agent in all of sports, Scott Boras.
However, this isn't even the biggest news surrounding Senzel this weekend. All the talk has been surrounding a trade the Cincinnati Reds might make, sending their young star to Cleveland for All-Star Francisco Lindor.
If that could become reality, then you certainly want to make sure you're not taken advantage of.
While Senzel has acquired an agent known for squeezing out as much money as he can for each of his clientele, it seems likely Reds fans would gladly give his future away for two guaranteed years of someone else's superstar.
Players only have a small window to make as much money as they can before their career ends. Well ahead of schedule, Senzel appears to be battening down the hatches.
