VIDEO: Buffalo Mayor Comically Mentions Tom Brady Leaving Patriots During City Coronavirus Update
By Jerry Trotta
Tom Brady's bombshell announcement on Tuesday in which he revealed that he wouldn't be returning to the New England Patriots this offseason will presumably have massive implications on the AFC East race in 2020. This news surely came to the extreme delight of each team in the division -- the New York Jets, Buffalo Bills, and Miami Dolphins -- but none of those cities reflected its relief better than the Queen City. While providing Buffalo with an update on the coronavirus pandemic, Mayor Byron Brown hilariously mentioned Brady leaving the Patriots. Brown permitted Bills supporters to celebrate accordingly... but to obviously do so responsibly and with less than 10 people present.
Given the circumstances that the world is presently reckoning with, Brown needed to be careful while preparing to fit this joke into his monologue. Suffice it to say that he did just that and absolutely killed it.
Neither Benny the Butcher or the other members of Buffalo rap group Griselda could be reached for comment as of this writing.
We can't think of a better way to get a message as important as this across to Bills Mafia than to grant them permission to celebrate Brady playing for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and leaving New England for the first time in his 20-year career. Brown deserves nothing less than a standing ovation from football fans today.
