Bulls Rumored to Make Potential Massive Contract Offer to Malcolm Brodgon
By Jared Kish
Malcolm Brodgon is expected to sign a hefty deal this NBA offseason, and with the offers that are starting to flow in from teams, Milwaukee will have to make room to offer him a nice paycheck if they want him to stick around.
One team in particular going after Brodgon is the Chicago Bulls. Per the latest rumors, it seems a rebuilding Chicago team could offer Brogdon a four-year deal worth $80 million.
The Bucks are looking to save money this offseason, with Brogdon, Khris Middleton, and Brook Lopez all floating in free agency, but if they want to keep Brodgon, they aren't going to do much saving; they'll need to match offers for at least $20 million a year.
By sending Tony Snell and the No. 30 draft pick to Detroit on Thursday night, the Bucks were able to get rid of the $11.3M owed to Snell, which will help minimally.
The Bucks guard had a tremendous year last year, averaging 15.6 points per game, adding 3.2 steals, and shooting 50.5% from the field. Those numbers certainly make him an attractive candidate in free agency.
The Bucks can match offers that Brodgon will get from other teams, but such a counter will make it extremely hard for Milwaukee to sign Brook Lopez, Nikola Mirotic and George Hill. Hill is due $18 million but only $1 million of that contract is guaranteed, so if the Bucks release him, it won't hurt them financially.
With teams like Chicago having the cap space to offer Brodgon a max contract, it might be essential for Milwaukee to match those deals if they want to compete for a title next year.
