Cam Jordan Takes Shot at Falcons While Downplaying Saints' Rivalry With Atlanta

The Atlanta Falcons and New Orleans Saints are teams heading in polar opposite directions. The latter is currently in the running for the No. 1 overall pick in next April's draft, while the former are genuine candidates to be awarded home field advantage heading into the postseason.

Well, both the Falcons and the Saints are coming off their bye weeks, and are gearing up for a showdown in Week 10 on Sunday. The meeting is slated to be the 100th all-time between the two NFC South rivals, but New Orleans star defensive end Cam Jordan doesn't exactly think much, if anything, of the rivalry.

"You talk about when you have the Falcons circled on the calendar for the year, it's the most important game because it's the next game, except it's not because it's Atlanta," said Jordan in an interview with The Athletic.

Given the tailspin that the Falcons are in -- they've lost six straight -- they might never recover from Jordan's quote. It says a lot about a divisional "rivalry" if one team can't get up for the game because of the choking reputation of the other.

The four-time Pro Bowler has every right to eviscerate Atlanta, too. In 16 career games, he has sacked Matt Ryan a whopping 15 times.

To Jordan and the Saints, a matchup with the Falcons is just another game, and that should speak volumes to the current state of Dan Quinn's side. They are rapidly morphing into the laughingstock of the NFL, which says a lot considering the woeful seasons that the Bengals, Jets, Dolphins, and Redskins are putting together.
