VIDEO: Cam Newton Comments on Uncertain Future With Panthers and Calls Charlotte 'Home'
By Chris Pyo

If Cam Newton never plays another down for the Carolina Panthers, he'll still be considered the best and most iconic QB in franchise history. However, with the injury-plagued season that he's had thus far, there have been trade and free agency rumors around Newton's name for some time now, and no one would blame him for seeking a new start with a different team. Here's what Cam had to say at his most recent charity event:

Cam still sounds right at home in North Carolina. The former MVP, Rookie of the Year and first-team All-Pro sounds like he still wants to stay with the Panthers, even if every single other detail dictates otherwise.
Coming off a season-ending Lisfranc fracture, Cam's going to be 31 next season on a pretty awful contract considering how much he's been injured throughout the past two years. Combine that with a couple of strong performances from second-year quarterback Kyle Allen, and the writing on the wall shows that it's time for Newton to take his talents elsewhere.
Newton's still heavily involved with the community, which has watched him grow, and has mostly stuck with him through his many ups and downs.

No matter how Newton's time with the Panthers comes to an end, he'll be celebrated in North Carolina for as long as he lives.
