Cam Newton's 2019 season has come to an end after the Carolina Panthers placed him on injured reserve. Kyle Allen's emergence at quarterback, coupled with Newton's sizable cap hit for 2020, have led many to speculate that Newton will be donning a different uniform come next season.

Several people have named the Chicago Bears as a possible landing spot for the former No. 1 overall pick. Now reports have surfaced that Newton would be open to playing for Chicago next year.

The former MVP is currently contemplating surgery with the intent of being healthy when the new league year begins in March of 2020. NFL Insider Ian Rapoport detailed the situation this morning on NFL Network.

Unless Mitch Trubisky makes an extraordinary leap forward during the last half of the 2019 season, which is highly unlikely, Chicago will be in the market for a new starting quarterback in the upcoming offseason.

A marriage between Newton and the Bears makes a lot of sense for all parties involved, including the Panthers, who would save around $19 million in cap space if they were to part ways with their former franchise quarterback. This seems like a match made in heaven, and now Newton is reportedly welcome to the idea of taking his talents to the Windy City. Interesting, to say the least.
