Cameron Maybin Announces Amazing News About His Mother's Health After Game 1 of Doubleheader

Monday has certainly been a great day for New York Yankees outfielder Cameron Maybin.

He homered in an 8-5 Yankees victory over the Baltimore Orioles, but received news mid-game that topped any on-field victory.

Maybin's mother Renee, aka Nae Nae, has been battling breast cancer, and received word that her cancer is in remission, which the hard-hitting Yankees outfielder couldn't wait to announce following the victory.

2019 has been an all around great year for Maybin on the field, and it just became even better off of it. He currently has the highest batting average of his career, and is on pace to hit his most home runs in a single season, too.

Maybin and his mother's special connection was first on display on Mother's Day this year, when he went impressively public with her diagnosis. "This year, it means a lot to me, to go out and to be able to play in her honor. Just want to give her energy and give her thanks for all that she's done for me," Maybin told YES Network, prior to that contest.

With his mom currently winning her battle with cancer, there is nothing Maybin can do that surpasses the feeling he had once he heard the news.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her," Maybin said, back in May. "If it wasn't for her, I wouldn't be the man that I am today, and I'm truly thankful to have a mother who's molded me into the man that I am, who's taught me how to respect women, how to treat women. I'm just so thankful that she has the opportunity to watch me play the game that I love, and I'm thankful for all the sacrifices she's made throughout my life to allow me be here and do what I love to do."

During this difficult 2019, Maybin has put in a lot of effort to raise awareness for cancer, in addition to supporting others who are dealing with the horrible disease.

Congratulations to "Nae Nae" and the rest of the Maybin family on this excellent bout of news.
