The Arizona Cardinals certainly aren't taking the poor conduct of their Chief Operating Officer lightly.

The organization dropped the hammer in their statement on Ron Minegar following his arrest for driving under the influence late on Saturday night.

"Ron Minegar's actions last night are inexcusable," read the statement. "He made the decision to rive after drinking alcohol and is fortunate that he was pulled over before injuring anyone or himself."

It didn't stop there though. The team went on to say, "According to MADD, drunk driving results in almost 11,000 deaths per year and is the number one cause of fatalities on roadways. We fully recognize the seriousness of these actions and they will have serious consequences."

Minegar was arrested late Saturday night after police pulled him over for speeding, failure to drive in one lane, and driving in the bicycle lane. The 60-year-old was arrested for DUI, cited, and then released.

The Cardinals aren't messing around, and that's extremely refreshing to see. It doesn't seem as though he'll get away with just a slap on the wrist.

As an executive for a high-profile football team like the Cardinals, Minegar needs to understand that he has an example to set and follow. Drunk driving is an extremely serious issue, and hopefully whatever course of action they take helps him recognize that.
