After a three-year postseason drought, the St. Louis Cardinals flourished in 2019, surging to the top of NL Central and advancing all the way to the NLCS.

And after a strong bounce back season, the Cardinals have extended the contracts of team president John Mozeliak, vice president and general manager Mike Girsch, and manager Mike Shildt.

All three of these individuals displayed tremendous leadership and are more than worthy of the extensions they received, which will see them with the organization through the 2022 season.

Shildt took over late in the 2018 season and the team won 88 games. He quickly took control of the clubhouse and the Cards removed his interim tag before season's end. He lived up to the billing in 2019 and became one of the NL Manager of the Year finalists, and now has three more years tacked onto his deal.

Mozeliak and Girsch did a fantastic job of building the team. They made a splash during the offseason by trading for Paul Goldschmidt and Marcell Ozuna to solidify a good young ball club. The executives followed St. Louis tradition by building through the team's farm system and drafting solid arms in Jack Flaherty and Dakota Hudson, as well as position players like Paul DeJong and Harrison Bader.

With these guys leading the charge, the future looks bright in St. Louis.
