Cardinals Wish Manager Mike Shildt a Happy Birthday by Misspelling His Name on the Scoreboard
By Mark Powell

The St. Louis Cardinals would prefer to celebrate manager Mike Shildt's birthday with a victory, but for now they'll have to settle for...whatever this is.
Shildt turned 51 on Friday, and the Cards surprised their manager by urging fans to sing him happy birthday in between innings. The only problem? They misspelled his name on the scoreboard.

There's oh so much irony in this screw up, but we honestly hope the Cards take the joke in stride and don't, ya know, fire an intern or something.
Shildt's Cardinals are right in the thick of the NL Central and Wild Card races, sitting a half-game behind Milwaukee for the second available playoff spot and 3.5 games behind the Cubs in the division. They'll certainly have to make some headway between now and September should they like to appease their fanbase, which rightly has high expectations after the offseason acquisition of Paul Goldschmidt.

The social media intern is safe, at least.
Assuming the Cardinals can hit better than they can spell, we like their chances.
