Carmelo Anthony's Number With Blazers Revealed and Fans Are Definitely Going to Buy His Jersey
By Chris Russo

As if Carmelo Anthony's return to the NBA would not sell enough jerseys, his choice in number is really going to raise their sales.
Anthony is going to wear maybe the most distinctive jersey number of all.

The 10-time All-Star and newest Portland Trail Blazer will wear No. 00 in Rip City, and there is some good reasoning behind avoiding his No. 7, as well as others.
Carmelo Anthony will wear No. 00 for POR because No. 7 is being held in honor of Brandon Roy; No. 15 (his Denver/Syracuse #) is retired for Larry Steele & No. 22 (Oak Hill #) is retired for HOFer Clyde Drexler. Wish he'd gone with 25, to bring them all together. Stay Mel00

Only two players in the NBA currently wear No. 00: Aaron Gordon of the Orlando Magic and Rodions Kurucs of the Brooklyn Nets. Only 36 players have ever worn the number in either the NBA or ABA. Anthony's former Knicks teammate Enes Kanter wore No. 00 with the Trail Blazers last year before leaving for the Boston Celtics.
Considering his career profile, Anthony will also likely become only the second NBA or ABA player to have ever worn No. 00 and reach the Basketball Hall of Fame, the other being longtime Celtic Robert Parish.
