A Maryland single mother got the surprise of a lifetime from rejuvenated Blazers star Carmelo Anthony this week. After struggling to get to work and make it to her daughter's basketball games on her current wheels, Melo stepped up for the 'hood that raised him, absolutely making Shalita Anderson's day, month, and year with the kindest of gestures.

Yes, that's a new car, and this random act of kindness is the latest moment in an amazing Melo year that's reminded us all exactly what kind of man, and player, he can be.
Just a few months ago, Melo was watching from the sidelines, as no NBA teams wanted to take the gamble on him. Now, he's making highlights every night, just like he's in his prime once again.

Melo meant a lot to the Addison family long before this extravagant gesture, of course. Shalita's daughter grew up a massive Melo fan (what bucket-getter didn't?), and now plays ball at Mount St. Mary's college.
