Massive news out of Philadelphia!

The Eagles and quarterback Carson Wentz have reportedly reached an agreement on a four-year contract extension that will keep the Pro Bowler in The City of Brotherly Love through the 2024 season. The financial terms of the agreement have not yet been disclosed, but regardless, this is a big moment for the franchise and its signal-calling star.

The news will arrive as a bit of a shock to many, as general manager Howie Roseman hinted that the team was in no rush to extend the former North Dakota State standout after the Eagles picked up the fifth-year option on his rookie contract.

Wentz has displayed the potential to become one of the NFL's top quarterbacks since entering the league in 2016, but injuries in the last two seasons have hindered his potential rise to superstardom.

After a roller-coaster rookie campaign in which he threw 16 touchdowns and 14 interceptions, he enjoyed a stellar 2017 campaign, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 33 touchdowns before succumbing to an ACL injury. The Eagles went on to win the Super Bowl title.

Wentz missed the first two games of the 2018 season while recovering from the ailment, and returned to his elite form only to be forced to end his season early once again, that time due to a lingering back injury.

It remains to be seen if the injuries are behind Carson, but everybody expected Philly to commit to him as their quarterback for the long term regardless of his worrisome history. And this contract is just further evidence in the organization's faith in his ability to lead the Eagles right back to football glory.
