Case Keenum Reportedly on Track to Be Redskins' Week 1 Starter
By Jerry Trotta

Well, this news isn't going to reassure the impassioned football fans in the Nation's capital.
Head coach Jay Gruden provided a disconcerting update on Colt McCoy's status on Sunday, which indicated that journeyman Case Keenum is looking likely to be the Washington Redskins starting quarterback for their regular season-opener against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 8.
Jay Gruden today on how soon Colt McCoy might return from a broken leg that ended his 2018 season: “Oh man, it might not be the end of camp, it might be two or three weeks into the season. We don't know yet.”

Case Keenum is now tracking to be Washington’s opening-day starting QB
It's worth reiterating that McCoy's recovery is so prolonged (he suffered a broken fibula roughly a year ago) because Gruden and the 'Skins medical staff opted to rush him back for the postseason least year...which they ultimately failed to make.
Now, the organization is bereft of a proper preseason quarterback battle as rookie Dwayne Haskins still has a lot of work to do before he gets the nod.
The #Redskins break camp with Case Keenum clearly having jumped Colt McCoy for the QB1 spot, even if McCoy winds up starting Thursday night. Final notebook from Richmond: https://t.co/nyWe3rSazp

If Redskins devotees are infuriated, they have every right to be. Keenum is fresh off a mediocre season with the Broncos, during which he threw just 18 touchdowns to 15 interceptions. He completed a shade over 62% of his passes while leading Denver to a 6-10 record, good for a third-place finish in the AFC West.
Regardless, it would appear, at this stage at least, that Washington fans will have no choice but to back the former Houston Cougar standout.
