Cavaliers Agree to 4-Year Contract Extension With Cedi Osman
By Scott Rogust
The Cleveland Cavaliers are building towards the future, and just secured a piece they feel can help bring the team back to great heights.
According to Marc Stein of the New York Times, the Cavaliers agreed to terms with small forward Cedi Osman to a four-year, $31 million contract extension.
Osman was originally a second round selection by the Minnesota Timberwolves in 2015. However, he was later traded to the Cavaliers in exchange for the rights to Tyus Jones.
The Turkish native is entering the third season of his NBA career. With the Cavaliers rebuilding, Osman found himself as the starting small forward last season.
In the 2018-19 campaign, Osman averaged 13.0 points, 4.7 rebounds and 2.6 assists in 32.2 minutes. Osman posted those numbers on a 42.7 field goal percentage.
During Cleveland's 94-85 loss to the Orlando Magic to start the season, Osman scored 13 points, grabbed 3 boards, and dished out two assists.
Osman will enjoy the money quickly, as he's set to make $8.6 million this season, while the deal gradually decreases in each passing year. Still, $31 million is nothing to sleep on.
