Cavs and GM Koby Altman Reportedly Agree to Long-Term Extension

The Cleveland Cavaliers are making a lengthy commitment to their future in the second post-LeBron era.
The Cavaliers have reportedly signed general manager Koby Altman to a long-term contract extension.
Altman has served as the Cavaliers' general manager since before the 2017-2018 season and held the position the last time the Cavaliers reached the NBA Finals. He also won the 2016 NBA Championship with Cleveland as the team's director of pro personnel.
After LeBron James left Cleveland to play for the Los Angeles Lakers in the summer of 2018, the Cavaliers finished 19-63, the team's worst record since the season after James left for the Miami Heat in 2010.
Altman fired head coach Tyronn Lue early last season and replaced him on an interim basis with Larry Drew, though he made a long-term move this offseason by signing longtime University of Michigan head coach John Beilein. Altman is also responsible for drafting Cleveland's backcourt of the future in Darius Garland and Collin Sexton.
Over the course of his new contract, Altman will be tasked with helping the Cavaliers get back to being a powerhouse in the Eastern Conference and discover a new team identity after LeBron's departure.
