CC Sabathia Lands on 10-Day IL With Right Knee Inflammation
By Jerry Trotta

It was inevitable, and now it is official.
CC Sabathia was forced from Friday's start against the Oakland Athletics after lasting just three innings with what was described as knee discomfort. The vet left-hander was coasting prior to his departure, surrendering just one run on 48 pitches.
Fast forward to Saturday morning, however, and the New York Yankees have placed Sabathia on the 10-day injured list with right knee inflammation. In a corresponding move, the club called up right-hander Jonathan Loaisiga from Triple-A Scranton.
Prior to today's game, the Yankees placed LHP CC Sabathia on the 10-day IL with right knee inflammation and recalled RHP Jonathan Loaisiga (#43) from @swbrailriders.

This is now CC's third IL stint of 2019, which have stemmed from inflammation in his surgically repaired right knee. The Pinstripe faithful, and baseball fans in general, can only hope that Friday wasn't the last we've seen of Sabathia on a big league diamond.
Of course, the 39-year-old is retiring at season's end, and that knee has done anything but heal throughout the course of the 2019 campaign.
CC Sabathia was as dejected as I’ve seen him in some time, but he plans to have his knee drained and possibly get a cortisone shot and appears determined to be back on the mound again this season. Hard to believe he would allow his career to end in this fashion.

We couldn't have said it better ourselves, Mark Feinsand. There's just no way that the former Cy Young winner would allow limping off the mound (in August no less) to be his final appearance...right?
When you consider Sabathia's all-time great toughness, it genuinely seems like an incomprehensible concept.
Only time will tell if he's able to get healthy in time for what is sure to be a Bomber's postseason run in October.
