CC Sabathia Reveals Just How Painful His Knee Injury Has Been
By Daniel Marcillo

The New York Yankees starting rotation was already banged up, so the last thing they needed was another injury.
When one of their starters is a 39-year old, 300-pound ailing veteran, what are they chances they actually keep him healthy?
C.C. Sabathia landed back on the Injured List with what he called a very painful knee injury. But, the pain is something the Average Joe probably wouldn't be able to withstand.
CC Sabathia said that he had a PRP injection as well as the synthetic lubricant. He expects this to take longer than his first IL stint but believes he can come back shortly after he resumes playing catch. CC also said his knee pain is usually an 8 - it was a 10 this time.

Over the last few years, Sabathia has dealt with countless injuries. Combine that fact with his age, and it's no surprise this will be his last season.
Sabathia's production has also declined in his final big league season. He has his highest ERA and is on pace to pitch his least amount of innings since 2014.

He is 5-6 with a 4.78 ERA in only 90.1 innings and has allowed an alarming 24 home runs this season. Those are disappointing numbers.
The Yankees obviously need a healthy CC to return sooner than later. The key, though, will be to keep him healthy for when the postseason arrives.
