Celtics Discussing Promoting Tacko Fall to NBA After Robert Williams and Vincent Poirier Injuries
By Michael Luciano
Injuries have left the Boston Celtics noticeably thin at the center position, as Vincent Poirier and Robert Williams are both dealing with nagging ailments that could sideline them for the foreseeable future.
Head coach Brad Stevens confirmed that monstrous big man Tacko Fall is among the options being considered to replace those two.
The 7-6 Fall has spent most of this season with the Maine Red Claws, Boston's G League affiliate. In eight games, Fall has averaged 13.6 points, 9.3 rebounds, and 2.5 blocks in just over 22 minutes per game. The former UCF Knight is looking more mobile and athletic inside than he did in his college career.
Fall has played in just one NBA game this season, putting up four points and grabbing three rebounds in a win against the New York Knicks.
It's extremely early in his pro career, but given his G League and Summer League performance, Fall looks to be more than just a really tall guy who happens to play in the NBA. Don't be surprised if he continues to earn more minutes with the Celtics as the season progresses.
