The NBA is investigating another incident between an NBA fan and a player. This time, the opposing parties are Marcus Smart of the Boston Celtics and a Denver Nuggets fan.

The fan tried to get under Smart's skin with an inappropriate comment while the Celtics guard was diving after a loose ball in the fourth quarter. Smart was not pleased, and responded by saying "if we were on the street, I guarantee you wouldn't say that."
Smart says his altercation with fan occurred after his foot got stuck and he fell diving into stands and a fan told him to stay on his knees. “If we were in the streets it would have been handled differently.”

He’s upset that Denver security didn’t appear to take action.
With the numerous high-profile incidents between players and fans last season -- most notably involving Warriors minority owner Mark Stevens and Raptors star Kyle Lowry -- it seems strange that people would remain skeptical that a fan would actually say something like this. What's worse is the supposed lack of action taken by security in removing fans that speak like this.
Knowing how Marcus Smart operates, this incident won't affect him all that much, and he still will continue as one of the league's elite defenders. One can only hope is that there won't be another instance of fans stepping over the line for the remainder of the season.
